How to find the best gas prices in the USA

Save money on your next American Roadtrip

We are back in the US, and lately, our whole family is driving halfway across the United States to attend a conference. As we watch the miles pass by, we wake up each morning in the hotel or motel we paid for with help from a coupon we found in a magazine at a welcome center. Once we were all awake, we ate breakfast, and watched the Weather Channel or Fox News in the lobby. We packed the car and headed to our next destination.

We have been especially grateful for our relatives and friends who have broken up this monotony by graciously welcoming us into their home. You have been SUCH a blessing to us, and we do not take your gift of hospitality for granted.

Help when I needed it most

This post was written while we were in Chad.

Yesterday I withdrew some money from the ATM at Novotel, to help fill up at Tchad Hydrocarbures with diesel. Two full tanks of diesel cost $100, or $4/gallon; there’s something I won’t do every day! After the attendant filled the tank up, I had them wash the car. For $6.00 they hand wash it; my people own the station. The new Land Cruiser became stuck in the mud twice in two days; do you think God might be trying to tell me something? I think I’m finally getting the message!

The vehicle became stuck in the mud on one side, so someone needed tHelp from a gas stationo tow it out. I sat there, feeling like a fool. Then God sent help; someone named Ahmed brought the truck by with a steel rope, and towed me out! He stopped me before I paid him and said, “I am Ahmed; I saw that you became stuck the other day, so I came to help you out!” That was the reason he gave me for not having to pay him for it! It was at that moment that I moved from feeling foolish to feeling special that God sent a friend to help in the nick of time!

God’s Gift of Resources

Building a Business God's Way, Part 3

Once God has helped us lay a foundation of trust, wisdom and integrity for our ministry or business, it’s time to take an inventory of what He has provided to carry out the task.

Wisdom continues His speech in Proverbs 8:

“When there were no depths, I was brought forth;

when there were no springs heavy with water.

Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth;

before He had made the earth and the fields, or the highest part of the dust of the world.”
                                                                                                              – Proverbs 8:24-26 (LITV)

After the rules of how the universe were established and put into motion, God provided natural resources for those who would live on the earth.

Why are natural resources so important?

The wealth and strength of a nation depends on its natural resources, and how they are used.  That is why every nation keeps a careful record of them.

Building a foundation of trust

Building a Business God's Way, Part 2

In our last article, we talked about just a few of the ways that God’s has been woven into the Laws that govern His Creation.

Life on earth is so fragile.  Everything that lives depends on the rules which Wisdom established.

If gravity were too strong or water did not float when frozen, life could not survive here.  But God is wise, and put everything together in a way that causes it to balance well.

So, in today’s article, we set up the business by taking the first step Wisdom used to establish the earth:

We start by building a wise foundation

laying a solid foundation of trust. Photo from the Library of CongressGod gave us a model of how to successfully “create” something ourselves, be it a business or a ministry.  As with God at Creation, wisdom must be at the foundation of all that we build.

Wisdom was the foundation of Creation.  Likewise, we need to depend on the Holy Spirit to help us set up a system of wisdom at the foundation of our business or ministry.

“But this shall be the covenant that I will cut with the house of Israel: After those days, declares Jehovah, I will put My Law in their inward parts, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” (Jeremiah 31:31-33).

Wisdom is our foundation

Building a business God's Way, Part 1

Last year, I was asked to speak at a Pastor’s Conference in Kenya.  Before I got there, I was in Chad, and praying through the Book of Proverbs for guidance about how to develop Desert Springs from a dream to a ministry that blesses the whole world.

In response, I believe that God used Proverbs 8 to speak to my heart about His steps to building a business, ministry or church.

He created the world in seven days.  The first few chapters of Genesis explain what He did.  The first chapter of the Gospel of John explains Who did it.

But in Proverbs 8, Wisdom tells us how He did it.

If we follow His steps in building what He has given us to do, the result becomes as solid as the ground beneath our feet, as dependable as the rising of the sun.
