We become like the idol we worship
Psalms 135:15-18 (LITV):
The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands;
they have mouths, but they say nothing;
they have eyes, but they see nothing;
they have ears, but they hear nothing;
yea, there is no breath in their mouths.
Those who make them are like them, everyone who is trusting in them. (more…)
Satisfied with what I have
By concluding that profit is piety, their souls are corrupt and are deprived of truth. Stay away from such people.
It is true that piety with sufficient provision is a great advantage, for we brought nothing into this world and are certain that we cannot carry anything away with us.
But let us be satisfied to have food and what we need to clothe ourselves.
For those who want to become rich fall into temptation and into the trap of the devil, and into many unprofitable and harmful desires which drown men with death and ruin.
For the root of all evil is covetousness. (more…)
Would you prefer to know when a crisis is coming?
“I have spoken to you these things so you may have peace in me.

While America is focused on elections and who the President will nominate to replace Justice Scalia, Europe is facing troubles like it has never faced before.
More than one million refugees have crossed into Greece since Jan 2015.
To be sure, there are thousands of innocent, desperate lives caught up in the refugee crisis, looking for a better life and a place of freedom.
But with time, we have discovered the troubles which come with these mobs of refugees as they come to settle a town with a population as big as their own numbers.

God targets pride; stay out of the line of fire
Isaiah 2:7-17 (LITV) :
“The lofty eyes of man shall be humbled, and the pride of men shall be bowed down;
but Jehovah, He alone, will be exalted in that day.
For the day of Jehovah of Hosts shall be on all the proud and lofty ones, and on all that is lifted up; and it will be abased;
And the pride of man shall be humbled; and the loftiness of men shall be abased; and Jehovah alone will be exalted in that day.”
Prosperity can be our enemy. When I take myself too seriously, I can be led to think that I am more important than I really am.
God said that Elihu’s counsel to Job was correct. And Elihu said that pride keeps God from hearing our prayers. (Job 35:10-13)
If we have anything in this world, it is because God blessed us.

Acts 3:6 (MWNT) Instead, Peter said, “I do not have any silver, nor do I have any gold. However, what I have, I give it to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and go!”
While we were in Chad, we struggled with finances… but the Holy Spirit gave us what we needed to bring God’s Word to thousands!
And He will do the same for you.
Let’s go into the world together, without silver or gold, but full of the Holy Spirit.
Bring what He gave you.
Generously give what you have. It is always enough.
