Prayer Witnessing: God really DOES answer prayer!

How the LORD provided Mark with an amazing job

Photo by Leland Francisco: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lel4nd/3985490626It has amazed me to see God miraculously answer prayer for my Chadian friends who were struggling and needed help.  As I was recently thinking over my time there, I remembered so many testimonies of what He did because I prayed.  And so many others which I have forgotten.

However, as my paths crossed with friends in need, we helped in any way we could.  And when there was nothing we could do, we prayed.

Prayer provides a job for Mark

Answered prayer for my bike repairmanI first met Mark at the bicycle repair shop by the side of the road in 1992.  I had purchased a bicycle to get around town, and often had crevaisons (flat tires).  Perhaps it was in the will of God.  It gave me the opportunity to really get to know all those guys who worked by the side of the road, not far from where I lived.

One day, we heard that Reinhard Bonnke was coming to town for a Gospel meeting in the arena.  I invited Mark to go and hear how much God loves him.  He replied that he didn’t want to go, that he loved the devil.  I got really sad when I heard this, and begged him to not follow the devil.

Prayer changed Mark's life foreverA few weeks later, I saw Mark.  He had stopped working at the bicycle repair shop.  Apparently, he did end up going to the Reinhard Bonnke Gospel meeting, and had turned his life over to Christ.

Later on, when I returned to Chad with my wife and oldest daughter, Mark and I caught up with each other.  At that time, he was a young student about to complete his studies.  He wanted to work for me, and I wanted to hire him!  But our budget was tight, and there was nothing I could hire him to do.  So I did what I could: I prayed with him instead.  We prayed in Jesus’ name until we were confident that God was going to do something to help him out.

And, wow!  He sure did!

From bicycle repairman to…

crossfunctional leadership team meeting_inlineA few weeks later, Mark came knocking at the door.  It was late, but he insisted on seeing me. Apparently, Exxon-Mobil was preparing to begin working in Chad in the Komé oil fields.  Mark applied to work with them, and was called for further interviews.

Mark was one of the first to get the best paying job in the country! The next day, he was going to fly for the first time in his life to the workplace. We prayed together, so thankful to the LORD who had provided this blessing to Mark and his family.

How has God moved in your life or in the lives of your friends, through prayer? We’d love to hear about it!

    • Sorry – the French children’s book hasn’t been published yet… but when it is, hopefully we can get one to you. However, the English version is available on Amazon, at https://www.amazon.com/101-Favorite-Stories-Bible-Miller/dp/188527047X/
I’m so sorry about the camel mug contest. But all is not lost! We have a slogan winner; we just need to find out who wins the prizes, then a company to prepare them for us.
I got so busy with language work, that the camel mug got pushed “to the back of the cupboard”. Just the fact that you haven’t forgotten motivates me to take this further! So, thank you!
