The First Bible Translation into English: Order details

The Modern Wycliffe New Testament: Bringing God's Word to the Nations

The Bible is an amazing book!  It’s our source of encouragement in time of trouble, our defense in the spiritual battle, our advisor in times of confusion.

And yet, millions of people don’t have access to God’s Word.

Some can’t read.  Others live in countries where governments do not allow people to own a copy.  Still others speak a language which has no Bible translation.

It just doesn’t seem right for anyone to be unable to receive the encouragement God’s Word brings.

First in English

John Wycliffe's original BibleIn the 1370s, John Wycliffe and his fellows at Oxford University began to translate the Bible into English.  They were the first to accomplish this task.

Wycliffe just wanted everyone in England to know what the Bible says.  That way, they could defend themselves against false teachings.

The English spoken and written back then was very different from what we speak today.  But after three years of translating and four years of revision, we have finally translated Wycliffe’s Bible into a modern, easy to understand English.

This Bible is ready just in time for us to celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation together.

Wycliffe’s Bible allowed England to understand the Bible for the very first time.  Likewise, when you buy a copy of this translation of Wycliffe’s Bible, it allows Desert Springs Ministries to bring Bibles to those who don’t have access to the hope it brings.

This translation is faithful to the Textus Receptus, yet easy to understand.

Wycliffe’s Bible was the largest book ever written in medieval English.  And its translation into modern English brings the Middle Ages to life, unlike any other book.
